Meet Spongebob, Patrick Star, Squidward and Plakton at City Square Mall Before They Get Washed Away

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob SquarePants of course! He and his friends are here in Singapore and you must go catch them live on stage before the pack up and return under the sea.

From now till 20 December 2015, catch SpongeBob SquarePants Krabby Patty Celebration ‘Live’ On Stage at City Square Mall Level 1 Atrium. Show time at 2pm and 7pm from Tuesday to Friday, and 1pm, 4pm and 7pm for Saturday and Sunday. No shows on Monday ok!

The 15 to 20 minutes performance tells the story of a special day for SpongeBob and friends as they celebrate the best sandwich in Bikini Bottom – the Krabby Patty! The adventure sets sail as SpongeBob prepared to celebrate the Krabby Patty and everyone is invited to the party. Expect loads of sea-antics and even learn to do the Krabby Patty Dance moves from SpongeBob himself! For super fans of SpongeBob and friends, you can get a Meet & Greet pass to go on stage after the show to take photos with the characters with minimum of $50 spent. Remember to exchange your pass one hour prior to each show. Limited to just 50 passes per show.

After the grooving with SpongeBob and friends, head outdoor to SpongeBob Playland at Level 1 City Green Park. We missed checking out the playland when we were there as it was raining! We will be back soon to snap lots of photos and partake in the activities at SpongeBob Playland. You can exchange for an activity pass at the Level 2 Customer Service Counter with minimum spend of $30. Activities are suitable for children age 3 and above, though I’m sure Zara would still be thrilled to play the mini-games, jump in the SpongeBob’s Super Bouncer and snap lots of funny photos in the Pineapple House. Check out these cool giant structure over at Alvinology feature of the SpongeBob Playland.

Here are some shots taken during the stage show with SpongeBob SquarePants and friends.

Pre-show interaction with audience.
Ayra was delighted to see SpongeBob come on stage. The girls were introduced to these underwater creators by their Ayah who’s a big fan of the silly Patrick Star.
The funny trio dancing and spinning around the stage.
SpongeBob doing his thing irritating Squidward as usual.
Spot Plankton as he pops in and out of the stage doing his evil things throughout the performance.
And there’s the captain who tells the story. I feel he should speak up a little more, I could hardly make out what he was saying in his soft pirate voice.

“Don’t miss the show ok! Must catch them at least once while you still can!”

Imagine Zara saying that in her pose.

Choo Choo Kinda Christmas at City Square Mall

Last Christmas we had some choo-choo fun with Thomas and Friends and this year it was with Chuggington at City Square Mall.

The beloved Chuggington Trainees Wilson, Brewster and Koko return for a new adventure at City Square Mall! The Chuggington Winter Snow Party will also see Lorie and Morgan joining the Trainees, introduce new songs, eco-friendly themes and most importantly, a spectacular light up which will fill the atrium with Christmas cheer. Watch out for falling snow too at the end of the show.

Ayra was unwell the entire week when we caught the show and was still recovering that day, we wanted to give the show a miss, but this girl of ours insisted she wants to go catch Chuggington. Before the show started, she was up following the moves but soon after she got tired, I had to carry her throughout the show cos she refused to let me go.

Zara had fun too grooving to the music. These two girls of mine are so similar in so many ways. When Ayra was at the age of Zara, she too were grooving and moving to music wherever whenever. But now that she is 3, she is more aware and is very very shy when in public. Her mood swing is also much more difficult to foresee and the melt down can happen anytime anywhere very quickly. I hope she will outgrow this phase soon.

By end of the show, the girls were all tired and they just wanted to go outdoor. So we skipped the photo taking opportunity and headed out to ride the Choo-Choo City Express.

Each ride at $6 and the train operates daily from 12pm to 10pm. After getting our tickets, we had to wait for half-an-hour for our turn, so we went to snap some photos with the display around the City Green Park.

When there’s music, there’s a grooving Zara.

The ride around City Green Park on the Choo Choo City Express was about 10 minutes, quite worth the value, since both the girls had enjoyed the ride.

The Chuggington Winter Snow Party ends this weekend, so go catch them at City Square Mall before they close!

We Caught Barney Live on Stage – World of Imagination

Our favorite purple friend and his gang is in town again! When Ayra saw the posters and decals around City Square Mall a week earlier, she has been pestering me to bring her to watch Barney. This girl remembers all the shows we caught at City Square Mall since her first a year ago, and every time we are there, she will ask to bring her to the atrium to see if any friends are performing that day. So the day finally came, we brought her to watch Barney’s World of Imagination on their first day of performance.

We reached at 2.30pm for the 4.00pm show, planning to get some food before it starts, but Ayra insisted we wait around the stage cause there were already families seated down waiting for the show which was 1.5hr away! I hesitated, but when I saw the crowd forming rapidly, I followed suit. So we settled down at 3.00pm, and were seated at the last row!

Ayra the only one who was contented and happy that we were seated down. This girl still unaware of the meaning of “waiting time” was losing her temper 30 minutes into waiting. I tried to explain to her that she has got to wait as Barney was still sleeping, but she kept asking “Where is Barney?” “Barney where?”… Tried all I could to keep her occupied, and even attempted a wefie, and this was what I got…

Sitting on the floor with two girls who were getting impatient and grouchy as the clock ticked, was NO JOKE! I couldn’t feel my legs nor my butt by the time Barney came on stage. And by then, Ayra was already super tired, didn’t quite enjoy the show as much as she would have. Instead, Zara was the one who enjoyed the performances. After our first attempt with Live shows, we learned that we shouldn’t sit too close to the stage and speaker. This time, seated right at the back, though she was slightly weary of those big dinosaurs on stage at first, but once she is warmed up, she was clapping and bouncing to the rhythm!

Barney’s World of Imagination was very enjoyable. The music was groovy, dance moves were fresh and the kids all loved all the songs and dance! There were some familiar tunes for Ayra from Barney’s show, but all the dancing songs weren’t that familiar to her. Still she managed to move a little and lip sing a few together with the gang.

If you are planning to catch the show at City Square Mall, here are a few tips for you! Don’t say you are not told ah!

  1. If you are driving, go EARLY! At least 2 hours before the show on weekends.
  2. If you want to be seated to enjoy the show, go chop your butt down at least 1 hour before each show.
  3. Don’t sit too close to the stage, you get better view of the whole performance from the middle onwards.
  4. Bring a selfie stick or monopod if planning to take video, use it to support and rest the stick on the floor. Holding up your camera throughout the performance is going to break your arm.
  5. Pack snacks or activity to occupy your little one, not just mine, there were a few kids who got very grouchy after waiting for too long.

Hi-5 House Party Show in Singapore

Our baby girl loves Hi-5! She has been watching and grooving to Hi-5 songs on TV and on Youtube since the day she could sit up on her own (at around 9 months). And she was dancing and singing in the cinema when we brought her to watch Hi-5 Some Kind of Wonderful! We love it when she dances and enjoys herself with Hi-5.

Just watch her more recent grooves with tunes from Hi-5!

Because she loves dancing and Hi-5 so much, we are bringing her to watch her first Hi-5 LIVE show at Marina Bay Sands in December! Tickets aren’t cheap though. There are few giveaways going on now, but trying to win them online is going to be super challenging and pure luck. So I purchased them anyway and we can’t wait for 22 December to come! The Hi-5 gang will perform her favorite tunes – L.O.V.E, Ready or Not and Wish Upon a Star.

So Hi-5 House Party we are coming!

Tickets and more details up at Marina Bay Sands website.
