Authentic Italian Lasagne at Super Dario Lasagne Cafe, City Square Mall

Where does one go for authentic Italian Lasagne in Singapore? Like common people in Singapore, we’ll probably go to a pizzeria or some restaurants which serves usually one kind of lasagne. There are so much more you can put between those slices of lasagne and cheese, and that’s what Super Dario Lasagne is set up to offer.

Located on level 4 of City Square Mall, opposite Daiso, those who frequent the place would probably have smelled the freshly basked lasagne from their shop.

They have a wide variety of options from the usual beef and chicken, you can also have the option of vegetarian and even bak kwa in your lasagne. Every tray prepared fresh and baked in their kitchen.

Zara was chomping down the vegetarian lasagne on her own that day. Digging into them non-stop and not wanting us to take her spoon away.

The shop is cosy and done up Italian style with lots of green and red. It can sit about 20 pax in total and the place do get packed fairly quickly. When we were there on Saturday for lunch, the place was mostly filled with dinners.

You might want to give these fizzy fruit drinks a try too while dining at Super Dario Lasagne. Sanpellegrino’s tasty Sparkling Fruit Beverages are very refreshing and goes well with lasagne.

If there’s still space to fill in your tummy after the yummy lasagne, they have some awesome desserts too! We especially love the Profiteroles and a hazelnut crunchy pastries which I forgot to take a photo of! You can spot it in the photo of the display fridge below. That one was our favourite! Gone in seconds!

Their vada is to die for! We bought some to try and went back for more! Crispy and flavourful. I miss munching these, and I cannot find anything close to these in Singapore. Just take a closer look and it’ll make you drool!

Streets of Penang

The stall is located across the road from this super mart building.

Look out for this man, he makes awesome indian snacks!

This is not far away from the indian stall above. Should be easy to spot as they are the only one with a long snaky queue around the area.

The Dancing Rojak Man

Penang, Gurney Drive

This one is located at Pusat Penjaja Anjung Gurney aka Gurney Drive food street. Make sure you have your camera ready when you are in the queue so you can capture this man sing and dance while serving you rojak.

Chepedak Crepe Cake at Cat Cafe
At Cat Cafe, eat Chepedak Crepe Cake. We had to slowly savour it so that we can spend more time enjoying the air-con and the cats. The whether outside was just too hot for a long day of walking around Georgetown for me.

Ali Nasi Lemak

Very cheap and good! 50cents you get a packet of their nasi lemak and I ate two! Am drooling now just thinking about this cheap and yummy breakfast.

Every day the night market stops at different neighbourhood around Penang. This is very much a local hang out with lots of yummy food and also night market shopping fun. Will share more about this night market in another post.

These are just some of the many food we had while we were in Penang during the June school holidays.

As you can see from this post, I am a very bad travel blogger. Show you the nice food to try but I cannot tell you exactly where they are. So so bad of me! But isn’t it more fun food hunting like that? 😛

Have fun in Penang!

Penang 2014 – Street and Food Market at Gurney Drive Penang

Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, also called Pusat Penjaja Anjung Gurney, is one of the biggest and most famous eatery in Penang. Started in 1970s and has moved to various locations over these years. Now located next to Plaza Gurney.

Probably not famous for the food as it was so-so only, but surely famous for the singing rojak man who dances and sings to whatever tunes the radio plays. Super fun to watch, makes queuing for his rojak more entertaining.

We didn’t have that much space in our tummy that night, so only managed to try three dishes from the stalls, and sadly, none were memorable. Amongst the three, I think the satays were the best. Personally prefers the food we had the night before at the weekday roving night market.

Spend a day at EatPlayLove cafe and you will be back for more!

I’ve dreamed of starting my own craft cafe for a very very long time. Multiple versions of the business plans were also created, but after so many years, nothing was solidified. When I chanced upon this kids friendly crafty cafe along Aliwal Street, I just had to go visit and check them out!

Last Saturday, after registering Ayra to her childcare for 2014, we drove to Aliwal Street in search for this new potential weekend hangout place, EatPlayLove Cafe. The cafe was easy to spot and we got a parking lot just right in front of the cafe entrance.

The cafe is just how I had dreamed about – cute, colorful and welcoming! I love every bits and corner of this place, it was love at first sight!
