Yes, we had so much fun playing in a sea of blue sponges (foam blocks to be exact) at Kaboodle Kids some weeks back, and we’ve got passes to share with our readers!
Kaboodle Kids is Singapore’s first and only indoor playground that uses Imagination Playground, these includes bricks and cylinders, accented with chutes, channels and parts that suggest motion or connectivity. They inspire children to design their own inventions, environments and activities.
When we arrived at Kaboodle Kids at East Coast Big Splash, the pieces were built and they place look so fun! Both Ayra and Zara were excited when they saw what was waiting for them, and went straight to play mode the moment they got their socks on and hands sterilised.
These modular, rectilinear parts are easy to stack, line up and move around. The kids and parents who were with us that day at Kaboodle Kids enjoyed endless play with these blue blocks! Most importantly, everyone were engaged, active and had lots and lots of fun. Both my girls were super tired after 2 hours in there but they refused to leave.
What I love about this play system is that my girls can do whatever they want in there and I don’t have to keep close to them to ensure their safety. The space is designed such that parents can just sit and chill along the long stretch of seats and watch the kids play. Or we can join in the building and playing fun! The girls were kept busy the entire time we were there and I didn’t have to encourage them to try out anything, they just go around doing their own things with their own imagination. I was very impressed that these blocks are able to maintain their interests for that long. If only our home is big enough! LOL!
See some of the things we did in the video I compiled from that day.
I do hope they start another outlet soon where it is more accessible by train, I would bring my girls there often for sure!
Kaboodle Kids also has a party room where you can bring in your own food and beverages or they provide catering options too. That day, we were treated to super yummy food from one of their caterer, Pondok Gurame Indonesian Restaurant located at Big Splash too. The kids and the parents all enjoyed the food served, it was delicious!
If you have not heard or been to Kaboodle Kids, here’s your chance!

And now, here’s one of the highlight that day for our little ones… the many new designs from Trunkie! We’ve got one old and plain one at home, so when the girls saw the many new and cute designs on display, they couldn’t wait to get themselves onto them. The girls were wheeling and going crazy on their trunkies that day. And we can’t wait to use ours at our upcoming family vacation this week!
And we are back to City Square Mall again! Not just cause we were invited to, even if we aren’t invited, we go there almost every month on our own. Because its just so convenient getting there by train from home. So what got us all excited this second round of fun trail around the mall? Because we were in for great family time indulging yummy wings, sushi making and a creative session at City Square Mall.
First stop: to fill up our tummies!
It was my 3rd time at Wingstop and I knew exactly what I wanted to order form their menu. But that day, even before we arrived, they have everything planned out for us. And boy the amount of wings that were served stopped my pumping heart. We almost had all their 10 flavors served in the same sitting, I had to stop them from pushing out more when our tables were already filled. Can you spot which are our favourites?
When I crave for wings, there are only 2 places I would go to and Wingstop is one of them. Just because I cannot get enough of their Mango Habanero and their limited time only Kacap Manis! And we will always order their fried mushrooms too because they are super juicy and nice.
Do you know?
Wingstop is originated from Texas in 1994 and has more than 700 restaurants open across the United States, Mexico, Russia and Asia which includes Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and the UAE.
Wingstop is widely known for freshly made, piping hot chicken wings that are sauced and tossed in your choice from their 10 mouth-watering flavors. They offer two variations for their wings – Classic Wings with no additional flour batter or breading. Just skin-on wings fried to perfection, sauced and tossed. And the Boneless Wings, 100% succulent boneless leg meat lightly breaded and fried to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
For those who likes to get all messy and finger-licking goodness, go for their Classic Wings. For those like me who prefer to keep our hands clean, I’ll go with the Boneless Wings every time!
After we got our tummies VERY filled, we proceeded to the upper level for our very first sushi making workshop with Genius R Us. That was the first time we headed up to that level at City Square Mall. We usually end our shopping at level 4 for Daiso, quick munch at the food court and then some play time at Time Zone.
Genius R Us is an enrichment centre that offers children unique learning experiences through Kidz Can Bake!, Tots Can Bake!, and Kidz Can Craft! series of workshops and concept birthday parties. Their workshops are tailored to bring out the genius in every child and orientated towards uncovering the child’s innate talents through the process of creative learning and self-discovery.
Set up in 2002, Genius R Us have been actively engaging the community and to date, they have created learning experiences to more than 75,000 happy children through their many workshops and camps.
Our experience that day was with their mini-workshop series for Sushi Making. We took these…
and made them into these!
Yes all 5 of us made our own sushi boxes that day. And the girls sure had fun creating and learning the steps. They don’t normally eat sushi but that day they ate those which they made on their own! I was surprised!
Guess they wanted to enjoy their fruit of labour after all the hard work they put into making their sushis.
There was also a party happening that day and I got to take a quick shot of their party room setup.
And last but not least, we had an hour of hands-on painting and colouring class with Global Art at level 4. They just moved in not long ago and already have got many students signed up for classes. If you are interested in their programs, can check out http://www.globalart.com.sg/.
That day the big girls got to try our hands with acrylic painting with palette knife while the little girls explored shading and doodling with their instructor. It was an hour of fun yet stressful time for the big girls as we were unsure of what we were doing since it was the first time we tried this style of painting.
After trial and error and lots of touch-up, we were all very happy with our pieces of art! It was in fact not so bad and of course the instructors were all very proud of our creations. big grin
It was indeed an awesome family fun and bonding time that day at City Square Mall. A different experience from our usual shopping and eating and rushing kids out of toy stores kinda day.
Thank you City Square Mall and the above mentioned tenants for hosting us that day. We will be back!
Much much buzz has been going around about Pororo Park’s opening its first playground in Singapore, and I believe the place must be jam packed with curious parents and excited kids since its opening on Monday, 11 November 2015. For those who’ve not been there yet, here’s some points you may want to read before planning your trip and paying for the tickets to Pororo Park Singapore at Marina Square.
Almost $80 for Family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids above 2yo) to Enter!
This is probably the most expensive indoor playground in Singapore where every adults need to pay for admission fees too. If you are bringing kids 2 years and above, each of them will have to pay $33.50 for TWO hours of play. There is no unlimited play time here at Pororo Park. If you consider this like a treat for your little ones and think $80 is ok to pay for 2 hours of play, then read on.
Pororo Express runs only at certain timing
One of the key highlight of the playground is the Pororo Express! ALL kids would jump in glee when they see it through the window and entrance to the park. Yes the train and its surrounding is super cute and colourful, but the train ride lasted less than 3 minutes. Each ride goes through the circuit once only. You’ll need to queue again to go more rounds. Do also note that the train doesn’t go non-stop through the opening hours of the park. So catch it when you can!
Performance at TongTong’s Little Theatre
This I feel is probably the only attraction that’s worth paying such high price for entrance to an indoor playground. The whole show lasts for 15 minutes, and there are lots of songs to keep everyone entertained. But my two year old was a little bored after the third song. Probably because the characters were having much space for variety of actions and interactions with one another. And the room was rather dim throughout the show with little spotlight (which was also too dim I feel) on the characters.
Cute Pororo House
And that’s all I’m going to call it – Cute. Everything in there are sized just right for the little ones. They can try to sit on the sofa, rest on Pororo’s bed and even pretend to visit the loo or shower in the cute tub. Give any child maximum 10 minutes and they’ll want out of the house. And do also be careful when your little one try to climb into the tub. There knob on the pipe wasn’t child-proof. Ayra came back with a bad scratch on her back because she lost her balance when climbing out of the tub and knocked herself against the water knob.
Biggest and Deepest SharkBall Pool
If your little ones are into ball pools, then this they can spend most of the time at. It is one of the biggest and deepest (most balls) ball pool we’ve seen so far from all the other indoor playground we’ve visited.
Poby’sJungle Gym Not Suitable for Adults
For kids who are old enough to move around a giant maze and loves climbing and sliding, then this is something fun for them. But if you want to join in the fun too, then you may be disappointed. Unless you are prepared to risk breaking your backbone for this. If jungly gym is your kind of thing, there are many other bigger ones to visit at fraction of the entrance fee.
That’s basically all the fun things you can do inside Pororo Park at Marina Square. So if you are planning to head down with your kids, do plan your visit around the showtimes and meet-and-greet timing. Then go catch the Pororo Express while its open. The rest of the activities can then be slotted in between these scheduled activities.

I wish for more time, money and tummy space for cafe hopping because I miss taking photos of food and relaxing chill out meal time. Most of my meals now are done in a messy, chop chop and eat kind of setting. That’s why when given opportunities to slow down and just enjoy the moment, I will surely jump onto it.
That day when I had a slow paced relaxing lunch with two beautiful mums and we were treated with wholesome halal Mexican food.
Situated along North Bridge Road, housed a cozy cafe that could be easily missed if you aren’t searching for it. But if you walk close enough, you’ll be greeted by a huge red framed door, two barrels, some cactus and a Mexican hat. Yup! That’s Afterwit cafe.
Start the meal with selection of drinks from their periodic table of drink menu, or check out their special Quaker menu for some interesting dessert drinks. That day we tried both the Quaker Apple Pie and Quaker Cookie Monster ($8 each). I’m a cookie girl so that glass of blended Quaker Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies, Fresh Milk and Vanilla worked well for me. Those tiny cookies on top are added bonus if you’re a cookie fan like me!
This serving of Quaker Quesadillas con Pato ($14) can be a starter or a main dish, you decide! Great for sharing with friends over a cozy afternoon of tea. This was my favourite that day, filled with duck meat, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions, Quaker oats for rice, all grilled within the 12″ flour tortillas. Served with guacamole, Pico de Gallo and sour cream.
At Mexican cafe, you must never miss having some burritos. And that day we tried two and also a serving of Quaker Huevos Rancheros ($16), poached eggs on mushroom quesadillas.
Shown in the photo below: Quaker Burritos ($15) served with our choice of Almuerzo (Musrhrooms) and Carne Picante (Roast Beef).
When the food were all served, we all knew we had over ordered! Three ladies and one little boy weren’t enough to clear these plates of Quaker inspired Mexican goodness. But we were told we must surely leave some space for at least one small piece of Quaker Chichen Itza ($12).
Just looking at the photo of this yummilicious dessert makes me regret not leaving more space that day for one more serving! This toasted butter brioche was super crunchy and adds a great punch at first bite. Topped with vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, crushed Quaker honey nut oatmeal cookies and slices of bananas. Mmmm…. I must go back to have this again!
All the above featured dishes are part of a special Quaker menu that is available at Afterwit till end of 2015, so you’ve got lots of time to go try them out.
Because of the crazy haze outdoor, for the past week, we have been spending more time at home even though it was the school holidays. And lucky us, we’ve got to play and enjoy in our very own playground at the comfort of our home. When the girls saw the new addition in our living room the other day, they were stunned like vegetables for a short while, and then it was none stop sliding and more sliding thanks to #FrisoExperience!
Even the father couldn’t resists sliding down too!
Personally I’m loving this setup because the girls had been bugging me to buy a slide for them for more than a year, and every time we see one in the toy store, they would go climb up and slide down non-stop. Now that they have their own at home, we can skip the sliding in stores. The play tent makes good reading nook too in the day. Maybe I’ll put in some sparkling LED lights for more imaginary fun at night.
