Review: OSIM uDiva Classic, Our First Massage Chair and We’re Loving It!

When was the last time you find time to visit a masseuse to get that stubborn neck and back ache soothen? It would be so nice if I can have it done anytime I want at my own home and that’s what got us started shopping for a massage chair since early last year.

After months of debating with my hub (and consulting our bank accounts) we still didn’t give in to the lure of having a massage chair in our house until now. With the new OSIM uDiva Classic, it is now even more tempting, and easier on our wallet, to finally own our very first massage chair. Thanks to OSIM we got to give this new uDiva Classic a trial run before we make our decision to sign-off that credit card slip. And here’s 8 (because its Chinese New Year) reasons why we need this OSIM uDiva Classic in our home. (It’s more like 8 reasons to persuade myself and my hub to buy it lah!)

#1 – The uDiva Classic massage chair fits just nice in our home

In fact it fits almost any home, even in my parent’s cosy one-bedroom HDB in Punggol! The OSIM uDiva Classic is compact and light, you can fit it anywhere in your house and move it about too; from the living room to the bedroom or in your baby’s room! It measures merely 90(L) x 70(W) x 85(H)cm in sofa mode with backrest inclined and footrest retracted, saving more than 30% of living space.

Love how this uDiva Classic is so much easier to match as compared to their previous uDiva model. It’s classic yet elegant design complements our home and I love how the caramel chair stands out from the rest of our furniture. Really fits just nice as our first massage chair right? This uDiva Classic is small in size but generous in the features. Read on to find out…

#2 – It feels just right, at every pain (and not pain) points

Every morning I wake up with numb arms and hands and a very stiff shoulder. Every night I find it hard to fall asleep even though I am super tired. All these are signs of overworked, little rest and long hours of staring into digital screens. Are you having the same problems too? Since I started using the uDiva Classic every evening, sometimees in the morning before I start my long hours of staring into my macbook, I fall asleep more easily at night and when I needed that knot loosen in the neck and shoulder, I used the manual settings in the massage chair to hit the right spot easily. And never once did I not get the “Ahhhh…” out of me; just damn shiok. And now I do not want this daily routine to stop! So I must buy it, right?

#3 – It’s like having a personal spa at home
When was the last time I visited a spa? Hmmm… probably more than 6 years ago when we took a break in Bintan. Now I can have a good spa rub and massage every day.

#4 – Not just another chair, but a 3-in-one!
An armchair these days cost easily a few hundred bucks and if you want a nice looking designer one, you’ll pay couple of thousand even. But well its just a nice-to-look-at and alright to sit in armchair. How about a cosy lounger? That’s not something every house can fit easily since it takes up more space. And then there’s the dream “I wish I have one at home” massage chair, to some may feel its too bulky or too costly to own. Now put all the above three into one, you can get a body message anytime you want, a chair to relax and reflect, a cosy armchair to sit and a lounger for you to laze or work in. With the OSIM uDiva Classic, we can have all the above at home without taking much space and doesn’t cost you an arm and leg to pay off. A good deal indeed!

#5 – 5 professional massage programs
Being our first massage chair, it should be easy to use and fuss-free. And sure enough, we could get our first massage experience right out of the box without any manuals or instructions. Just pressed a couple of buttons on the remote and we went “Ohhhh” and “Ahhhh” instantly. The five pre-set massage programs include:

  1. Neck & Shoulders – my favourite routine that eases stiff and aching necks and shoulders
  2. Lumbar – on days when I needed a good relief on my lower back
  3. Energize – for the mornings when I needed a quick boost before work to charge up the body and mind.
  4. Spa – a gentle massage that relieve stress and tension all round the body
  5. Sleep – for relaxation before a good night sleep.

You can also use the manual massage settings to target a specific spot of your shoulder or back to suit your individual preference.

#6 – Everybody can use it!
Most places sell massage and spa packages that you can share with your love ones these days, but the problem with these packages is finding time to head back to use the package. But this one package is right there waiting for you at home. My parents come by weekly to visit and now they get to enjoy soothing massage too while spending time with us.

#7 – A work-at-home mum dream chair to work in.
Because I work from home most of the time, and sitting at my desk long hours makes work a little dull. Now I have a better option to sit and work at home. When I am too tired, I set the uDiva Classic into massage chair postition and have my back massage while I type away on my macbook. Or when I needed to focus just on work, I set it to become a lounger where I can have my coffee and snacks within reach while I work. Isn’t it a dream chair to work in for me? Yes right? Must buy lah! Shiok lah!

#8 – It doesn’t burn a big hole in our wallet! And accepts trade-in too.
Because we have got a massager at home now, we can trade-in* that and get this awesome new OSIM uDiva Classic at a special trade-in price! I just need to use it at least once a week to get my investment worth comparing this with my usual visit to the masseuse; which I seriously cannot find any time to go. Perhaps its time to trade our leg massage for this full body one. Hmmm…

Now that I have got my 8 reasons to own the uDiva Classic massage chair listed out here (while seated in it as I typed them out), time to share it with my husband and get the deal firmed so I can enjoy all the above 8 benefits permanently.

uDiva Classic retails at S$2,499, available in two colours ‚Äď caramel and mocha. Please check in-store for more details. Click here for more information on OSIM uDiva Classic.

Want to try out the chair too? Come visit us this Chinese New Year! I’ll serve you coffee and snacks too. Don’t forget the ang baos ok. ūüėõ

Bring Balinese Style Into Your Home with Wihardja Furniture

I’ve never been to Bali, and has no plan for any trip there soon. But I do love the laid back, wooden Balinese style kind of home decor and furniture. I’ve seen and loved many of these teak furniture but have never found anything that fits my budget before I was introduced to Wihardja.

Wihardja Teak Furniture as seen on The Loving Mum
Love this simple display spotted at their Toh Guan Showroom. A good day bed or just to relax and rot the weekend away with your favorite movie and glass of chilled coffee.

Wihardja, specialises in teakwood furniture, teakwood accessories, pottery ware and soft furnishing which are all made in Indonesia. They started the teakwood business in 1997, operating from a head office in Singapore. Currently, they have two showrooms in Singapore Рone at Enterprise One Kaki Bukit and another at Toh Guan Road East. While their factory is located in Central Java.

If you are wondering if they are in any way causing the haze we’ve been getting here in Singapore, well you don’t have to as they are totally off the grid. As their management has clarified, their¬†factory does not condone the use of ‚Äėslash and burn‚Äô technique for the¬†clearing of lands for cultivation.

Though relatively young in the industry, they produce quality products with trusted endorsement from their clients. Many have became long time customers and eventually friends who always recommend others to check out Wihardja when looking for any teak or suar wood furniture. Wihardja also exports to the Asean region, extending to countries like Canada, Spain, Costa Rica and Australia.

All shipments are effected directly from their factory in Central Java to their customers. This cutting the need for a middleman, and hence able to offer their customers quality teak furniture at excellent value.

Talking about suar wood furniture, do you know that you can get a custom sized piece from Wihardja at almost half the price as seen at other places? This is possible as they do not keep stock and every piece is made-to-order. Though you are not able to dictate the grain and colours as you wish to get, but the quality and style is rest assured as good as the one you see at two-times the price. For example the table you see in the photo below, you’ll probably have to almost $3,000¬†elsewhere, but at Wihardja, this was tagged at less than $1,500. Not bad right?

At Wihardja, you can expect to find a huge collection of furniture and home decoration. Ranging from Rustic, Natural, Resort Style, Industrial Look, and Contemporary pieces. Here are some other interesting pieces I spotted and loved while I visited their showrooms…

Finally, this piece which I kept calling out my name when I visited their showrooms twice… “Bring me home… bring me home… bring me home…” And yes, that’s what I did. Can’t wait for it to be delivered this weekend!

Revisiting my Secondary School Days as a Design and Technical Student with XPC by Home-fix

I am a DIY, hands-on, must-fix-it-myself kinda woman. Almost EVERY piece of IKEA furniture in our house is installed by yours truly. And I have A LOT of IKEA furniture at home. It was like back in Secondary school days where I had the most memorable time of my teenager life as a Design and Technical (D&T) student. I got to use the saw, hand drill, do lots of hammering and sanding to create my very own wooden mobile phone holder.

Thanks to a woodwork experience workshop hosted by XPC by Home-Fix. I had lots of fun last Saturday morning together with fellow parent bloggers Evelyn and Justina.

Here’s what happened that morning…

I was excited to spot my name together with the tools and stuff we’ll be working on that morning. And even better was to find two familiar faces at my work table. It’s always more fun to attend workshops with friends right? So I was super excited to get started.

The friend instructor from XPC demonstrated step-by-step what we need to do that morning. He broke down the steps into bite sized chunks so we can watch, learn and do slowly. He confessed that he is also very new in this woodwork gig and was very shy and soft spoken that morning.

Spot the extra three holes in the above pic? Well yup, couple of us had too much horse power that morning and drilled too deep into the wood and onto the table top! I felt really very bad cos these are three very deep deep holes. Not advisable for any beginners to try drilling holes through wood at home! Go to XPC and learn from the experts first and get used to handling the tools before attempting on your own.

After much effort, I was almost done with my piece when I found a crack in one of the side pieces! Thanks to the instructor who quickly duplicated one piece for me at half the speed I would have taken.

And here’s my finished woodwork! A mobile phone holder wor. Its the best we can produce in a short 2 hours, and I’ve got quite a bit of help from the friendly instructors. Been more than 20 years since I did any serious D&T stuff so my mind and hands are rusty.

XPC welcomes makers, tinkerers, hackers and inventors who seek a deeper interest on enriching their skill sets and introducing innovation in Craft, Design & Technology. Let’s together build a platform for the community to engage and discuss new ideas towards designing and making products made in Singapore.

With little space around at home for any proper DIY projects or hack our own IKEA home pieces, but now we have XPC who provide the space and tools for all your D.I.Y. needs, making D.I.Y. fun and affordable for everyone! They welcome both beginners and enthusiasts to learn and share with the community to grow the maker culture here in Singapore. Providing a reasonable selection of raw materials for your needs, along with basic tools and machines that you can use for your projects. It’s like having access to a technical workshop for your fun home improvement project!

Perhaps its time to get some home improvement going on our own soon! Have always wanted to try something form Ikea Hackers website.

Come Play In Our Refreshed Playroom, Brighten Up with Dulux Wash & Wear

Welcome into our refreshed playroom! It is amazing how choosing the right colours can make such a big difference in a room. We are loving how cheerful, vibrant and awesome our new playroom is. Come on in and play with us in our happy playroom!

Playroom Transformation with Dulux Singapore #DuluxSG

Before showing you the full (aka messy) room, let’s do the close-up-makes-everything-look-better kinda shots…

Little reading corner

Our cosy reading corner with matching cute retro chairs from Chair-ish the Moments. Love the colour combination here with our pink wall in Strawberry Crush, 74RR 28/432 from Dulux.

Playroom Transformation with Dulux Singapore #DuluxSG

You see how the pink wall looks very different in the above and below photos? Lighting plays a huge part in how the colours on your wall will appear in real-life and on photos. Hence it is very important to pick the colours at home and not in stores or at your Interior Designer’s studio. Bring home the colour book or paint chips and visualise from your own home and rooms. Check them in the day, at night and with room lightings, making sure the colours are what you want. If you have existing furniture in the room, it’ll be ideal to match them too. Or even plan ahead, like how we are planning to convert this playroom to the girls’ bedroom in a few months time. The bedsheets for their beds will preferably be of lighter shades of pink, darker shades of yellow, orange or blue.

Mini chair for Zara, medium chair for Ayra and a Muji legless chair for Mummy.

Our photo and art wall

Loving how every thing just pops against the yellow wall in Celestial Sun, 54YY 85/291 from Dulux.

Playroom Transformation with Dulux Singapore #DuluxSG

Add some painting and pretty photo canvas to a plain wall will make the whole room feel more homely and closer to the heart. My girls love looking at their own photos and get excited jumping and pointing at them. (Super vain right?! Girls will always be girls.)

Kitchen play corner

Cooking is probably one of our girls’ favourite play activity in the room. Now their kitchen + mini cafe is brightened up whenever sun shines through our window in the morning.

The play tables

These orange tables were already in the room before our makeover. With the new yellow wall, these orange tables from Ikea look more fun and pretty as compared to when it was against our old grey walls.

Tips for storing tiny toys: Buy a candy grabber aka mini UFO catcher and store them all in there. Makes nice decor piece and have some fun catching them too!

Now you have seen the close-ups, here are some shots of the wider views of our playroom – the before and after our repainting transformation with Dulux.

Before we had boring and dull looking grey walls

Now we have cheerful, fun and girly playroom

The chaotic mess before

Much organised, cleaner and safer space for the girls now

Playroom Transformation with Dulux Singapore #DuluxSG

Wider shots of rooms are not as nice a view nor fit for show house¬†quality shots¬†right? That’s why it is almost impossible to snap photos of your beautiful home once you stayed in there for more than a year; make that a month when you have little kids in the house! Getting our room repainted gave me a valid reason to clear out all the unused and unwanted stuff around our playroom room. I must find time to do the same to my work room which is now more like our second storeroom in the house! And I don’t even want to think about the craziness in our storeroom!

Much better space for play and explore

A quick flashback to the day when Ayra returned from school and saw her new room, yes she’s calling it her new playroom ever since the repaint was done. First she was stunned and just stood there looking at the new colours, then she asked to take photos of her room.

And when she’s done posing, she did the photo taking on her own with the PowerShot D30 camera, which I gladly handed her as it was shockproof! No need to be afraid it falling off her hands.

The new layout and toys placement is also easier for her to pick and choose what she wants to play without needing assistance from us. Just move the toys around and she can start playing. Glad the school has trained her well in putting back her toys after play.

Ayra loves reading and listening to stories with me on the new chairs I bought. Guess she prefers to be hugged by it as she always picked the tiny green one instead of the spacious blue one.

We cannot stop sharing with families and friends how our room is so much better after a repaint with the right choice of colours. Even our part-time helper who come by once a week said she was shocked to see the room brighten up after the painting. She even thought we forgot to turn off the light in the room when she first saw it; I couldn’t stop laughing when she told me that the week after.

Refresh you house with Dulux Professional Painting Services

I know! You must think I am crazy to make repainting the house sound like an easy-peasy task. Just the thought of packing and moving the things around the house alone is enough to make most of us exhausted already. But after going through our playroom revamp with Dulux Professional painting service, I would do an entire house repaint if I can! Check out the short one-minute video below and you will know why.

All I did to prepare the room for the painting job was to remove whatever pictures I had on our walls. And all the other stuff were moved and protected by the Dulux professional painting crew. Before starting work, they make sure all your furniture are protected, floor covered and any corners or build-in furniture taped up so it would not get stained with paint. And they even help you clean up and move your furniture back to where they were once they are done with the paint work! Awesome isn’t it? With such professional service, why wouldn’t I hire them to paint the house?

Thanks for following our transformation and hope you like what we did with our playroom. Do vote for us when the voting begins from 8 to 14 December 2014 at Dulux Singapore Facebook Page.

How to pick the most suitable type of paint for your walls?

Now that we have selected the colours for our playroom, its now time to find the right paint for it. Yes! You read it right, there are different types of paint to choose from! Let me help break them down for you into everyday scenes at home…

To create a brighter and spacious-looking rooms

Image via Dulux

Living in a new HDB flats or even a private condominium means small rooms and space in the house. With the right type of paint, you can create an illusion of bigger rooms. Dulux Light & Space with Lumitec technology reflects up to twice as much light than normal emulsion wall paint hence enhances the perception of a brighter and larger space.

For those with creative kids or people with clumsy hands

Image via Dulux Pinterest

Dulux Wash & Wear with KidProof Technology effectively repels tough stains, making cleaning easy. It delievers optimum washability and keeps colours beautiful and fresh! To remove most household stains just wipe it off with a wet cloth and little bit of gentle detergent. Often Wash & Wear paint is associated with kids in the household, but this type of paint is also very useful for use around the house. Especially true in the kitchen walls and walls near the dining area, where sauces and drinks can get spilled and dirtied the wall.

When painting our house 2 years ago, we opted to use the Dulux Wash & Wear paint and I’m so glad we did! Once we had a buffet line setup in the house, there were much sauces left on our walls after the caterer removed the setup. These stains were easily cleaned off with wet cloth and some dish washing detergent. One reason why most buffet lines are setup along the corridor! (Silly us!)

You know how sometimes you will doubt what the commercials on TV show you and you just need to test it out on your own to believe that it works? Here’s the demonstration video for Dulux Wash & Wear from YouTube, and after that, a video I captured during a real life demo which I witnessed. And it really makes a lot of difference with KidProof Technology!

Live demo of KidProof technology paint
To prove that the KidProof technology in Dulux Wash & Wear really works, we were showed a real demo. You can see how the two sides of the paint are different when cola is spilled onto it. One side the cola slides off without sipping into the paint, while the other side absorbs almost immediately when spilled onto, and this confirm cannot clean off loh! No prize for guessing which one is painted with Dulux Wash & Wear.

Then there is this video… which will make all parents go “Ohhhh… nooo….!!!” then smile with a “It’s ok” look.

There is no need to even consider the type of paint in our case. Since we are painting our kids playroom, 100% I will go with Dulux Wash & Wear paint with the new KidsProof technology.

Get fresher air at home

Made possible with Dulux Pure, formulated with air cleansing properties which neutralises formaldehyde (a common indoor air pollutant) to transforms rooms into a refreshing environment.

Ideal for the living area in the house or a relaxing corner.

For those who wants everything in

Then the total solution for your interior walls is Dulux ALL paint. With superior toughness, antic-bacterial, Colourguard technology which keeps colours looking fresh longer, it is also washable and easy cleaning, low odour paint with mould and fungus resistance capability and of course it is also friendly to our environment.

For easy reference, here’s a chart comparing the types of paint available in Dulux product range.

I hope this post has been useful! There are many brands of paint available in the market, but being a user of Dulux paint all these years (from my parent’s place of 11 years to our own home) I would recommend to give their paint a try. And utilise their free consultation service to help plan for your colours.

For professional paint work, Dulux Painting service is worth considering too. Pay a package price and get all the following services for fuss free painting of your house.

  • Pre-paint site inspection – *yes they really do come to your place to check the walls and conditions*

  • Free colour consultation – *Super useful! Check out our experiences here.*

Will share more about our painting experience with Dulux Painting service in 2 weeks time. Follow our transformation and hope you will like what we did. Do vote for us when the voting begins from 8 to 14 December 2014.

5 Tips To Picking Out The Right Colours For Your House

After my search for colour inspirations¬†online, I got down to trying out how the colour combination will look on the walls in our¬†playroom. No, it doesn’t need any paint, brushes nor handwork!

Here are 5 tips for picking out the right colours for your house, mostly picked up while planning for our mini room transformation with Dulux Singapore.

Tip 1: Start with your favourite colours

Your favourite colours may look fabulous on your dress or shirt, but not necessary work as well if used as a paint colour. With help of a colour wheel, you will be able to better choose color combinations that will work well together. Painting one solid colour to the entire room or house is the easiest. However with the right combination of colours (from paint to furnishing and decor) you can create a whole new feel to the entire space. Follow the following colour combination rules and you will be safe (avoid creating a mess). Read more about Monochromatic, Adjacent/Analogous, Complementary, and Triadic here.

Tip 2: Look at the colours in the current room

From the furniture, fittings, big things around the room and even the colour of your flooring. Sometimes it may not be necessary to paint the entire room, adding a feature wall to a single coloured room will help brighten up the space too! A feature wall should ideally have the largest area within the room or space and should avoid walls with windows or doors. Read more tips on creating a featured wall by experts at Dulux.

Am considering making this side of the room a feature wall, but the groove in the wall is making be think twice about it. Will have to consult the expert during our consultation with Dulux for some help.

Tip 3: Visualise the colours with technology

Play with the paint colours with augmented reality technology made possible with Dulux Visualiser application on the iOS and Android OS. I tried it on my HTC One Max and the iPad Air. The visualiser was not compatible with my mobile phone but we did get to play with it on the iPad. It almost as simple as seen in the video below, as long as the lighting in your room is bright enough. With us living at a low floor, the trees and other structures outside our house block out too much light for a smoother use of the visualiser.

Besides the visualising of paint colour on the app, the other feature I love is the ability to pick up the colours from a photo and then the app will show a selection of colours that matches it.

Pick one colour from the selection shown and it shows you the matching colours that goes with it. And if you like it, save it to your favourites for reference.

See the number on the tiny star at the top of the app? That number has been growing over the past week! I’m taking this mini transformation too seriously I think, and the additional input from Ayra and the husband aren’t making it any easier.

This feature of the app is especially useful if you have existing furnitures in the room to match your new paint colours with. For us, the beanbag is one of the highlight in the playroom. And I kinda like the schemes suggested in the app. Perhaps this might be one of our shortlisted consideration. Decisions decisions!

If you want to browse through all the colours, you can do so too with useful filters from within the app. Scrolling left and right brings you through all the colours of the rainbow and beyond!

Tip 4: Ask your kids!

It is their playroom after all! No matter how young they may be, it is nice to involve them in the planning of their room transformation. With help of the Dulux Visualiser application, the kids can see the colours on the walls in their playroom. Ayra was super excited when we were discussing about the colours for her room.

Tip 5: Consult The Expert For Free

If all the above four tips still isn’t enough to help you make the decision, Dulux provides free colour consultation with their colour specialists. All you need to do is 1-2-3

I have submitted my photos of our playroom to them too. It takes 5 to 7 working days for them to get back with proposed colours, will update this post when I get their reply next week.

On the 4th working day after I submitted my photos to the consultant, I received some proposed colours for my consideration. Here are the two which I am shortlisting to my consideration list…

The Sun Kiss yellow looks so cheerful and bright for a feature wall!

The pink and purple looks sweet too.

Looking at these proposed schemes, I am imagining a strawberry field theme for the playroom! Think Strawberry Shortcake and Friends!

Our Playroom Before Transformation

We are soooo soooo soooooo super excited! I have always loved watching home transformation and improvement shows on TV. And has secretly wished for something like this to take place in my own house one day. And finally we are in a real home transformation project! Though not as extensive as a total home transformation, but this is just as exciting for us! I have been cracking my brain on how to make our girls’ playroom more fun and inspiring for them. And now I can do it with help from the professionals. Yes, we are lucky to have a room just for the girls to play (for now). This room will be their bedroom once they are old enough to sleep on their own, which I hope is soon. So for this room transformation, I will have to factor in future possibilities too when we put two single beds in.

Grey. Our Original Inspiration.

This was my original idea when planning for our house 2 years back. Because we wanted to save on colours and make the whole house look balanced, we painted all the rooms with a medium shade of grey and our living room a lighter shade of grey. All furnitures are white and grey too. Ya, kinda boring, but we somehow liked it this way. I tried adding some colours to the wall and corners to make the house look brighter, and more cheerful, but it just didn’t work out as how I had envisioned it.

This is how our playroom looks like now…

The play area for cars, playhouse and cooking. We love how we can roll the Muji drawers around as an additional table top for play on the floor.

The other side of the room where we store lesser used toys in boxes, and also the art and craft area where I am planning to do away with as Ayra prefers to do her activities on the floor. So for this transformation, I hope to clear furnitures to make more floor space clear for activities.

And this side is for the clothes, but looking at the layout of our room now, I’m planning to do a little musical chair with the furnitures so that I can have this nice corner for a reading nook or sort. Hmmm…

Here’s part 1 of Our Playroom Transformation…
The Search for Colour Inspirations

So I visited my almost forgotten Pinterest account and starting browsing, and the more I scroll through the playrooms, the more ideas I have! It’s crazy! But sadly I can’t find much kids room or playroom ideas from Singapore! Only a few from the home and decor website, but that’s it! Why no parents share their kids room in Singapore? Is it cos there isn’t much space available in the house? Not even a small corner in the living room? If you know of anyone who blogged about their playroom or play area at home, do let me know ok? Hope to link them up here too.

Here are some ideas I kinda like for now, and sharing some pointers I picked up from the Colour Inspiration workshop I had with Dulux Colour Specialist.

Dark Wall. Bright Decor.

Loving how a darker hue on the wall makes brighter coloured accessories popped! Even white looks better on these pretty walls. A green hue also helps revitalise us when we are mentally, physically or emotionally exhausted.

Orange Featured Wall

Less means more when come to colour coordinating a room. Orange is great attention grabber and is of a playful and active qualities. Ideal for kids and teens room. It was said that orange increases appetite too, you know what colour to paint your dining area with ya? Or perhaps an orange dining table might just do the trick too, especially for a white or grey toned space.

Light coloured walls with touch of vibrancy

When selecting colours for our house some two years ago, the idea was to use a piece of furniture or accessory to brighten up the grey walls we painted throughout the entire house. But instead, we ended up with mostly white furnitures with touches of grey around the house. We still like it this way as its very clean and balanced, but some change in colours will surely help make it more warmth and cosy.

Decorative Paint Works.

My dad has always asked me to put up wallpaper on a piece of wall in each room and in my living room too. He used to help out at one of his friend’s company doing wallpaper installation at residential and commercial properties. Ever since, he believes strongly that a nice wallpaper will brighten up the house a lot. And its so simple to install and remove (if you have the skill). But I like to paste things on my walls – photo frames, drawings, paintings etc. Wallpaper doesn’t allow me to do that! So why not get the professional painters to do a decorative paint work? I’m considering getting some bold chevron lines painted in the playroom, just to add some dimension. Perhaps something like this…

The above colour inspirations were made possible by the informative workshop conducted by Dulux Colour Specialists which I attended last weekend. With their sharing of useful tips and the references from their Colour Inspiration guide, I am spending more time planning and picking out the right colours for our playroom transformation. In a good way of course! And I’m getting input from my girls too. Will share more on the colours we picked in another post. Do continue to follow us as we have our mini home makeover with Dulux!

Do follow us and 9 other bloggers as we show you how fun and easy it is to bring new life to your home! Hope we will inspire you to do the same too for the new year! Oh and did I mention the $500 painting package voucher + $100 home decorative vouchers to be given out to 10 lucky voters? Check our Dulux Singapore Facebook Page – A New Colour, A New Experience app for more details.

In the next post for Challenge 1, we will share how we pick the right colour for our playroom with Dulux Visualizer app, available for iOS and Android devices. Its a pretty cool app and I am having fun playing with it, masking out walls around the house on the app and changing the colours of my wall virtually. This is one cool use for augmented reality! Check out the demo video below to see the app in action…

Follow our transformation and hope you will like what we did. Do vote for us when the voting begins from 8 to 14 December 2014.
