The Residence Bintan, Where Parents Get to Slow Down & Kids Have Fun

Best Of TLM, Featured, Kids Activity, Let's Have Fun!, The Family, Travel Stories / Wednesday, October 17th, 2018

If you only have 3D2N to spare and wish for family time with your kids and personal time too together with your other half, The Residence Bintan could be what you need. We just got back and everyone is suffering from the resort withdrawal sadness already. “Bring me back to resort please!!!” Zara pleaded this morning while I tried to get her out of bed for school.

Those grins say it all! The LOVED it!

Although we only spent 3D2N at The Residence Bintan, I clocked a total of 600+ photos and 50+ video clips! This is what happens when we travel too little together… every moment is so precious and needs some form of documentation! We love flipping through scrapbooks of photos and watching our homemade videos of our travel adventures.

For our family staycation at The Residence Bintan, I’ll be sharing them into a few parts…

Essential Guide to The Residence Bintan from Singapore

Travelling to Bintan from Singapore

There are two ferries that depart from Tanah Merah ferry terminal. One sail to Bandar Bentan Telani in the north of the Island and Tanjung Pinang in the south-west. We took the Bintan Resort Ferries to Bandar Bentan Telani and the sail from Singapore to Bintan was a smooth and fast one, it didn’t feel like an hour. Unfortunately, the sail back from Bintan to Singapore (Monday evening) was a very choppy one and we were held floating near the Singapore port for what felt like forever as there was no available dock for our ferry. It didn’t end well for me sadly, the motion sickness was so bad I filled a bag of puke the moment I stepped foot on the stable ground.

From Bandar Bentan to The Residence

Upon arriving at the port in Bintan, I highly recommend you take a toilet break before you meet your pick-up to The Residence.

We were greeted by the friendly staff near the exit where they helped us with our luggage and any bulky bags. The Residence shuttle bus was waiting outside for us, decked with bottled water, cooling aircon and even free WiFi onboard! Before the bus departs, all guests were also served with a packet of cookies and a cold towel to freshen up. Very thoughtful!

It takes between an hour to 75 minutes to travel to The Residence, with the excitement and anticipation, it was hard to get the little ones to take a quick nap so they occupied themselves with the mobile phone with the free WiFi onboard. They also caught sight of village life for the first time during the journey and when we caught their attention, we started to play “I spy with my little eyes….” where we spotted chickens, cats, different color houses and also guessed how many people were riding on the motorbike in front of us…

After a final turn, we were transported to a totally different world from what we saw along the way… the nicely paved driveway, nice and huge looking resorts and the nice bricks and greeneries around… we have arrived at The Residence!
